My Plan for Women's Emancipation

My Plan for Women's Emancipation.

THE GIRLS’ PLAN :

Women's rights are human rights!

These include the right to live free from violence and discrimination; to enjoy the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health; to be educated; to own property; to vote; be voted for and to earn an equal wage and to be involved in running the government

Supporting girls and young women to overcome the barriers they face will be one of our main focus if nominated and elected  as governor of Edo state.

Everyone must acknowledge the injustices girls face and take action to make lasting change.

No single issue defines a girl’s life. From the moment they are born, girls face many intersecting barriers on their path to adulthood.

Through programming, influencing and campaigning, and concrete execution of our Plan we will  reduce and  challenge these injustices to ensure girls are able to unlock their power, are free from violence and discrimination and enjoy their full and equal rights.

Across Edo State many women and girls still face discrimination on the basis of sex and gender. Gender inequality underpins many problems which disproportionately affect women and girls, such as domestic and sexual violence, lower pay, lack of access to education, and inadequate healthcare.

If voted into power we are going to address this inequality,  change laws to empower girls education and women rights to be respected. And are also encourage and empower new movements andnon governmental organisation( ngos ) to flourished in this aspect of women rights.

Our  Girls’ Plan shows the 6 key areas where investment in girls is needed:

  • Girls get an equal and fair start in life
  • Girls get into school and complete quality education
  • Girls get to live free from violence
  • Girls get to decide what happens to their bodies and enjoy their sexual and reproductive health and rights
  • Girls and young women get equally paid and are economically independent
  • Girls get equal power and become active citizens.

On day one if nominated and elected Governor of the my state I  will hit the ground running  by penning executive actions, upon assuming office I will set up and do the following .

1.Issue a declaration of students and girls right to be free from discrimination on the basis of sex, gender identity, and gender  and

  1. Included the teaching of girls rights into the school curriculum.

3.Set up a monitoring team task force.
